Programs

YAP provides a variety of financial and empowerment services to increase the self sufficiency of those we serve and help our clients achieve important life goals. Each program is designed to address the barriers to healthy, happy, and successful living, with supportive guidance and encouragement. Often living with HIV/AIDS comes with unique challenges, and our agency is built to create a sense of community and safe space among those who are HIV positive to thrive and flourish.

Peer Support Group

Every month YAP hosts a women’s and men’s support group program, for our clients to give each other peer support through struggles and successes. A free meal is provided.

HIV + Men’s and Women’s Retreats

One annual retreat for people living with HIV is conducted by YAP, usually in beautiful Red Lodge, Montana. We also provide assistance with travel costs for clients to attend other annual retreats which focus on living positively with HIV, reduction behavior, and becoming advocates for your own health.

POZ Events

Special programming for socializing and networking among people living with HIV/AIDS. When available, tickets are provided to various local arts, events, bowling, movies, and other fun activities.

Project Pantry

Household and personal products, that food stamps cannot buy, are provided by local AIDSpirit USA, Walmart of Laurel, church donations and local donors.

Healing Paws

Our Healing Paws program provides access to a pet care product pantry for companion animals as well as financial assistance for needs such as vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures, and at times, adoption fees.

AIDSpirit Frozen Meal

Frozen meals are provided by St. Vincent’s Healthcare, AIDSpirit USA, and local churches. These items provide a nutritious meal during times of need.

Project Space

Our offices are often a safe haven for clients to utilize during business hours. We have client computers with internet access, Microsoft programs, and printers to aid in access to technology needs. A library with books, CD’s and movies is available for client check out, with topics ranging from self improvement to pet training, living with HIV and more.

Emergency Financial Assistance

We provide assistance with costly unexpected things like utility bills, prescription co-pays, travel expenses, employment needs, identification needs, and accessing other resources in our community.

Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS

HOPWA

This program for short and long term financial assistance with rent, mortgages, and security deposits is crucial for those who are socio economically disadvantaged. Stable housing is a key need for the health of those living with HIV/AIDS.
