Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

White Diamond Affair

The Yellowstone AIDS Project will be hosting the "White Diamond Affair" A Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor, on Saturday, May, 21st at the Loft. The event will honor Ms. Taylor for her dedication to the fight against HIV/AIDS and her desire to help find a cure. The below article from the Yellowstone AIDS Project's April Newsletter highlights some of her work and contributions.

The event will include free HIV testing and a sign up for HIV testing appointments for the following week, a 50/50 raffle, an auction that will feature a liquor basket and a pair of 1/3 ct. diamond earings and great dance mixes by D.J. Dubb. We ask that people dress to impress and wear their white and red to honor Elizabeth Taylor and the cause that was so near and dear to her heart. For those who complete an HIV test either at the Loft the night of or at the Yellowstone AIDS Project in the following week will be entered in a drawing for an iPod! A portion of the proceeds from the door will go to the Yellowstone AIDS Project's prevention efforts.

Also, we would like to thank our sponsors and donors for this event, the Pride Foundation is sponsoring the event, The Loft is being extremely generous both by letting us use their facility and bydonating part of the cover charge and a liquor basket for the auction and RiversStone Health is helping test at the event and providing the iPod for the testing drive!

Remember Elizabeth Taylor

Remember Elizabeth Taylor!!! Keep her memory in a special place in your heart. For those who have a connection with HIV/AIDS - whether a person living with this horrible infection, as someone who has lost a loved one, or as a friend and supporter - we owe her a huge debt of gratitude. She always was a brave, independent and spirited person; but when her close firend Rick Hudson succumbed to AIDS, her path was clear; she would use her fame and celebrity to fight fearlessly to see that AIDS was not swept under the table and ignored. Eliminating stigmas, pushing others to realize that AIDS was a disease - nothing less, nothing more, treating those who were suffering with compassion, and forcing those in power to legislate funding for research - all of her spirit was focused on this fight, and fight she did! She helped found AMFAR-American Foundation for AIDS Research. She is credited with single-handedly raising some 330 million dollars, an amount that is staggering especially in 1980's and 1990's dollars. She also openly called on America's leaders to address the AIDS crisis. It's frightening to consider where we would be in 2011 had we not been blessed with an Angel on Earth like this. Remeber Elizabeth Taylor!!! - Skip Godfrey, Board President
